Karen is the principal of Bosco Warilla and has been assisting clients with their accounting and taxation needs for over 18 years. As a member of the Institute of Public Accountants, Karen holds an Advanced Diploma of Accounting with 17 years prior experience at the Australian Taxation Office.


As a professional and registered Tax Agent, her extensive taxation experience enables her to assist clients understand the complexities of taxation law.

Elyse Malby 


Accountant

Elyse started her career as a trainee in accounting in 2012. She has been working with Bosco clients since 2017. Elyse has qualifications in Business Administration 2013, Certificate IV Accounting 2015, Diploma Accounting 2019 and is currently studying additional units to become a Registered Tax Agent. Elyse has a passion for accounting and educating clients in financial matters.

  • What are the requirements for lodging Business Activity Statements?

    Businesses in Australia must lodge Business Activity Statements (BAS) either monthly, quarterly or annually, depending on their annual turnover. BAS includes details of GST, PAYG withholding and other tax obligations. It's lodged online through the Business Portal or via a registered tax or BAS agent. Late lodgment can incur penalties.

  • How do I handle Goods and Services Tax (GST) in my accounting records?

    Businesses registered for GST must charge GST on taxable sales and remit it to the Australian Taxation Office (ATO). They can claim credits for GST paid on business purchases. GST transactions are recorded separately in accounting records and reported on Business Activity Statements (BAS).
